Laminate Flooring
Laminate Flooring.

Laminate flooring features a wear-resistant decorative surface made of resin-based melamine - a material which is bonded to a moisture-resistant wood-based core. Due to the density of the resin wear layer, laminate flooring is extremely difficult to stain, scratch, or burn - ideal for various types of flooring needs. Choose from our many laminate flooring designs at C.I Blinds Direct, and find the perfect flooring solution today.

Laminate wood flooring gives you an original look and unique feel of a solid wooden floor, with all the maintenance benefits of a laminate floor. It's also fast and easy to install yourself! So why not opt for beautiful laminate wood flooring in your home, business or office with C.I Blinds Direct today?

What is Laminate flooring?

The base of laminate wood flooring is a watertight, glued HDF board (High Density Fibre Board), which is covered with a design layer and a transparent overlay against wear and tear. Underneath, a barrier layer stops dampness from rising up and prevents the boards from deforming.

The design layer is a photo of wood or tiles that is printed on paper, which is then submerged in melamine resin and covered with a very strong and transparent protective layer. The melamine layers are pressed on the HDF board in a press, under high pressure and temperature. In addition, a wood or tile structure is also pressed into the top layer.

The highly refined printing technique on laminate wood flooring means that you can hardly tell the difference between the photo and real wood - so you can have a "wooden floor" in your home, along with the easy upkeep of laminate materials.

Stylish, durable and easy-to-maintain, laminate floors are suitable for all types of settings, including bathrooms, verandas and kitchens. Laminate floors are even ideal to use in offices, as the floors will not easily scratch with the use of office chairs (with suitable caster protection).

Real wood vs. laminate floors

The major difference between wood and laminate floors is simple: one is wood while the other is not. The base of a laminate floor is HDF board (High Density Fibre Board), while underneath, a barrier layer stops rising damp and prevents the boards from deforming. The design layer is a photo of wood or tiles that is printed on paper; this is covered (laminated) with a very strong and transparent protective wear layer.

Laminates are less expensive than wood floors simply because they are not truly wood floors. In addition, unlike wood, laminate floors cannot be refinished or repaired, and will need to be replaced when they begin to show wear.

However, laminate floors are simple to maintain, and they hold valuable properties such as a resistance to scratching, staining and burning - making them particularly suitable for high traffic areas of any business or home.

Our discount laminate flooring is ideal for use in a number of different settings - from bathrooms, kitchens and verandas to offices and businesses. Laminates are also typically suitable for use over underfloor heating. However, you should always check with your particular floor and heating system, as different flooring manufacturers work to different compatibility standards.
